COACHES AND FANS PLEASE NOTE

This is a new course this year.  Due to the construction of the New Lewiston High School we have created a new course.  Much of the old course was salvaged, but the start/finish area will be to the NORTH of the main loop.  The main loop is now 2800 meters long.  So for a 5K race all racers will run a "short" loop of 1800 meters, then one large loop (2800 meters) and our start/finish distance adds up to 400 meters to total 5000.   I am going to leave the current course maps up so you can get a general idea of the layout, but this is NOT THE COURSE to be used in 2018.

You can see a current map at mapmyrun.  Here is a link to this specific course.  On right side is link to do a 3D flyover so you can see how course runs.  You may need to create account to view in this manner.

COURSE MAP

COURSE MAP using GARMIN CONNECT (MOVING PICTURE OPTION)

We have invested some significant money this spring to make these changes and adjustments, including planting new grass in all of the new areas, there are posts on the inside and outside of the running path the entire way that are 50' apart or less (on corners).

Other than the brief description above, we will have course maps soon and hope to have some interactive ones so that you can see how it will go.   There are a couple of "hairpin" turns in the race, but they are far enough into it that we don't think there are any concerns.  Even less so at the state meet which typically has had smaller fields that what we see at the invite.  The course is 100% dirt or grass.  It can be dusty during dry time, depending on how well our grass/ground cover has come in.  There is very little shade on the course and teams are encouraged to bring tents to avoid the sun/rain.  There should be ample area for placement of these along the start/finish area and behind the start line.

Parking will likely be the biggest issue due to the construction of the new high school.  For the state meet - spectators will be required to park at the fairgrounds ($5 parking fee) and we will have a shuttle service circling to and from the course.  We may be able to create some onsite parking, but expect that it will be limited and will still have a parking fee applied. There will be a separate designated team parking area at P1FCU.  The fairgrounds are close enough to walk, but we will have the shuttles running for those that want to ride.  For the invite, P1FCU will be for teams.  We will also try to have some on-site parking as indicated above, but most will have to park on neighboring streets and hoofing it to the park.  Our apologies, but as mentioned, as soon as the school construction is completed then this problem will be in the past.

PARKING DIRECTIONS - INFO

TEAMS

Using the address of 1234 Warner Drive for GPS units will take teams to the drop off point for the meet.  This is a small parking lot in the southeast corner of the property.  The start and finish lines are approximately 600 meters to the NW of this and you can get there following the bike path.  For those not using GPS you will head SOUTH on THAIN, take a LEFT at 10th Street, then a RIGHT on Warner.  The road will be closed to traffic at 12th Street, but buses will be allowed through in order to drop off.  After drop off they will continue EAST on Warner until they get to 14th Street where they will turn RIGHT until they get to Burrell where they will turn RIGHT to Thain, then to 10th Street where they will turn RIGHT, then another RIGHT on Warner and will be able to park in the P1FCU parking lot.  PLEASE KEEP DRIVE THRU ACCESS OPEN.

SPECTATORS

There is only one onsite parking area for spectators.  Once it is full, spectators will need to park on neighboring streets and walk to the facility.  Keep in mind that parking on-stie is dynamic.  Meaning, as races conclude, parents/family leave thereby opening up spaces.  There will be a $5.00 charge to park on-site.

Following the directions above to get to the drop off, spectators will be directed near the intersection of 12th and Warner to a limited parking area there near the course.  The bike pathway will be accessible in order to reach the race course.  There will be a $5 parking fee for on-site parking.

HANDICAPPED PARKING

The small lot at 1234 Warner drive will be used for handicapped parking.  There is limited space.
