General Camp Information

Brief outline of camp

Camp will spend its first evening and part of next day on the campus of LCSC. Included in this time will be the annual VO2max demonstration and a strength training session in the weight room.

The next three days of the camp will take place at Johnson Bar Campground located on the Selway River. 

The camp will have daily training sessions for runners of all abilities as well as group dynamic activities, educational sessions, games, swimming, beach and other competitions.

Although the camp is to assist in the development of young runners, we will be emphasizing fun and team building in most, if not all of our activities.

All campers will receive a camp shirt and water bottle, and other various items.

Camp participants must be 8th-12th graders in the upcoming school year. High school graduates are not eligible.

The first day of the camp the campers will be camped out on the campus of Lewis-Clark State.

Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights the campers will be staying at Johnson Bar Campground.  This is located on Selway River Road.  The turnoff is at Lowell, Idaho. They will be tent camping, with all of the perks of that including campground restroom facilities, no showers (river access), propane and outdoor grill and other food preparation, comfortable natural bedding surface, etc....

  • With group/team camping, each group will be responsible for helping in the preparation and clean-up of at least one meal during the week.

Camp is limited to 80 Campers!!!!!

$315.00 between April 11 and June 10

$100.00 Deposit required to hold spot.  Balance due by June 10th, otherwise deposit and camp spot are forfeited.

 Deposit is required to hold your spot at camp and balance paid by June 10th in order to maintain spot. Deposit will be forfeited and spot opened to waitlisted camper for those not paid in full by June 10th.  Full refund minus $100 if registration is cancelled in writing by May 15th.  No refunds for cancellations after May 15th.


Every effort will be made to conduct the camp in the positive and exemplary manner as advertised. However, it is possible that events that are currently unforeseen could change the daily itinerary, locations, etc... These events "could" include but are not limited to forest fires, campground closures, etc...

Mike Collins ImageCoach Collins received his BS degree from Boise State University, his MS in Exercise Physiology from University of Utah and his Ph.D. in sport science from University of Idaho. Among the accomplishments he has been associated with while the coach at Lewis-Clark State include 18 Consecutive years of LCSC Women's XC ranked in the top 25 of the nation SEVENTEEN consecutive trips to nationals for Women's cross country team, FIFTEEN consecutive years for men's team ranked in the top 25, FIFTEEN consecutive years team has been represented at nationals, ELEVEN in a row for full team. Frontier conference men's coach of the year ('07, '08, '09, '10. '11, '13, '15, '16. '17), women's coach of the year ('07, '08, '09, '13, '14). Over 197 all-Americans since 1999. In 2014 his cross country teams finish 2nd (women) and 10th (men) and were award a trophy for the 2nd best all-around program in the nation.   USA regional and National NAIA runner of the year (Sam Atkin).  Six national champions in track and two olympic trials qualifiers.  He is also a USATF Level II Coach, professor of Exercise and Sport Science. USA Triathlon National Qualifier ('97, '98, '99, '00, '01, '05), Ironman Triathlon finisher (2005, 2009, 2012).He is also President of NAIA Cross Country Coaches Association and Secretary of the Track & Field Coaches Association.

Lewis-Clark State College's Head Athletic Trainer will be available throughout the camp and will be attending during the camp session on the Selway River. All campers must fill out the health history questionnaire in order to help us be aware of any health issues that may need to be dealt with.

Insurance information must also be provided. All campers that carry an Epi pen for allergies, including bee allergies MUST have their pen with them at all times.


Campers can begin checking in on TUESDAY July 10th between 5:00 and 6:00 pm. Camp will officially start at 6:30pm. Camp officially ends on Saturday July 14 at 3:00pm. For those checking in earlier and/or getting picked up later, be prepared to entertain yourself. The student union will be open during that time with the game room available, along with seating to read or other.

Arrangements can be made to pick you up at the Lewiston Regional Airport. Please make these arrangements ahead of time.
