CAMP OUTLINE:  The Warrior Running Camp is a balanced approach running camp where focus is put on multiple aspects of running and teams.  Lessons and activities will involve aspects associated with actual training and physiology, to team work and team building, comraderie, problem solving, etc....  The camp also puts a lot of emphasis on fun and other activities that are designed to help build friendships and strengthen relationships between athletes, coaches and the entire team.  All levels of runners are welcome, but you are encouraged to have been training prior to attending camp, as it is a running camp, you will be doing some running, including a time trial on the last day of camp.

LOCATION:  Registration and check in will be held at the LCSC Activity Center in Lewiston starting at noon on the 13th.  Camp officially starts at 1pm.  A portion of the camp will take place on this day in Lewiston, then will proceed to Three Rivers Resort in Lowell, Idaho, which is on the banks of the Selway and Lochsa Rivers.  The resort is located about 100 miles east of Lewiston on Highway 12.  Campers will be provided tents to camp in during their stay at Three Rivers and will be tented up in groups of typically 3-6 campers.  Efforts will be made to place campers from the same school together, other than being separated by gender.  All meals will be provided during the week.  Please indicate on your registration form if you have special food needs so that you can be accomodated.  Three Rivers is open to the public, so families have the ability to make reservations.  If you would like to stay an additional couple of days after the camp on the Selway with your child and pick them up there at the resort on Thursday, instead of back in Lewiston then contact Three Rivers.  www.idaho3riversresort.com Phone is 208-926-4430

DIRECTOR and STAFF:  Camp Director is Dr. Michael Collins, the Head Coach at Lewis-Clark State College.  Coach Collins has been at LC State for 23 years.  In that period of time his teams have won 20 conference titles, he has over 200 all-americans and three olympic trials qualifiers along with seven national champions.  Coach Collins has coaching certifications from both USA Track & Field and the US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Associations.  He also has a PH.D. in Sport Science from the University of Idaho along with a MS degree in Exercise Physiology from the University of Utah.  He will be joined at camp by Cyrus Hall, also a certified coach, Sam Atkin, also a certified coach and current professional runner.  Sam's stay at camp may be limited depending on his status for the 2020 Olympic Games as he is working to qualify in the 5000m.  Other coaches will be present along with the Head Athletic Trainer from LC State, Tracy Collins, who also ran track for Boise State University.  Camp Counselors will be made up of primarily runners or former runners from LC State.

OTHER POTENTIAL EDUCATION TOPICS:  This varies from year to year, but potential topics include nutrition, adaptation strategies, importance of iron, recovery, race strategies, altitude, mental toughness training, to name a few.

OTHER ACTIVITIES:  Floating the river, time trial, awesome tossum tournament, minute to win it games, campfires, hiking.


COACHES:  Coaches can come for free if there are at least 5 athletes in attendance from their school.  Otherwise it is $100.00.  Coaches will potentially be asked to assist in some of the activities and even conduct an education session if they are willing.






CHECK IN/OUT PROCEDURES AND DETAILS:  Check in will occur at the LCSC Activity Center.  You will need to have all of your forms done or finish at this time, including proof of insurance or a medical liability waiver.  Your gear will be stored here until we leave for the camp later in the day.  Camp is tentatively scheduled to start at 1pm with check in opening at noon.  No lunch will be provided.  First meal of camp will be dinner at campsite.
